Thailand's participation at ABIC 2006 in Melbourne, 6-9 August 2006


Full_boothBIOTEC represented Thailand at the recent Agricultural Biotechnology International Conference (ABIC) 2006 in Melbourne, Australia from 6-9 August 2006. The Thailand-BIOTEC booth# 34 contained information on the following research: Rice, Spirulina, Cassava, and Shrimp. In addition, there was also information on BIOTEC and Thailand Science Park.

The Hon. John Brumby, MP Treasurer and Minister for Innovative visited Thailand-BIOTEC booth. The Minister also visited Thailand Science Park and BIOTEC in late 2005.

(right) Prof. Morakot Tanticharoen, BIOTEC Director seen here giving a presentation on  Agricultural Biotechnology in Thailand: A challenge yet to be tackled.   

The poster on "A simple, rapid and effective method for polymorphism detection and its application in developing new markers for male sterility gene selection" presented by Dr. Amorntip Muangprom and the poster on "Dynamics of follicular development in lactating cows and heifers following a steriod-based program for synchroniing ovulation" presented by Dr. Siwat Sangsritavong were nominated as "Highly Recommended" by the abstract judges.
