Announcement of BIOTEC Annual Research-team Strengthening Grants

On 19 February 2007, BIOTEC/NSTDA organized a Press Conference to announce the awarding of Baht 53 Million to three research groups from Mahidol University, Chulalongkorn University, and Khon Kaen Uniervisity. Prof. Yongyuth Yuthavong, Minister of Science and Technology was the guest of honour to present the awards and grants.

Baht 19.9 Million research grant was awarded to the research team of Prof. Boonsirm Withyachumnarnkul (Center of Excellence for Shrimp Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Mahidol University) on "Molecular research on shrimp virus".

Baht 17.9 Million research grant was awarded to the research team from Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, led by Assoc. Prof. Sopit Wongkham on the study of Cholangiocarcinoma-associated genes.

Baht 15.1 Million research grant was awarded to the research team from Chulalongkorn University, led by Assoc. Prof. Anchalee Tassanakajon on Shrimp production improvement via genomics study approach. Her current project on shrimp EST can be viewed on this website: http://pmonodon.biotec.or.th.

 

About BIOTEC Research-team Strengthening Grant

Research-team Strengthening Grant is awarded annually by BIOTEC since 2001 to a high quality research project with emphasis on building strong research team. The outstanding research team shall consist of university professor (s)/ senior researchers and graduate students. Each award is worth upto 20 million Baht for a period of 5-year research work.
