BIOTEC hosts The Bangkok International Conference on Avian Influenza 2008: Integration from Knowledge to Control.

On 23-25 January 2008,"The Bangkok International Conference on Avian Influenza 2008: Integration from Knowledge to Control” was held at The Dusit Thani Bangkok. The conference was organized by BIOTEC, National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and allied organizations including government and private sectors, aiming to provide an international forum that world scientific experts and scientists working in affected areas could share knowledge, experiences and expertise. The forum provided ample opportunities for knowledge, particularly those learned during the last three years from the first avian influenza outbreak occurred, to find their ways to applications and controls this disease. In addition, it would also facilitate international understanding and collaboration, which was essential for handling this global threat.

 
 
 

About 600 participants from over 40 countries attended the conference together with 26 distinguished scientists and health experts such as Prof. Robert G. Webster (St. Jude Children's Research Hospital), Prof. Kennedy F. Shortridge (The University of Hong Kong), Prof. Peter M. Palese (Mount Sinai School of Medicine) and Prof. Albert D.M.E. Osterhaus (Erasmus Medical Centre).
