BIOTEC and The University of Liverpool signed a collaborative MOU to strengthen and promote academic and research collaboration as well as staff and student exchange. The ceremony was held on 29 June 2009 at BIOTEC, Thailand Science Park. Leading the delegation of the University of Liverpool was Prof. Stephen Holloway, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Science and Engineering.
In conjunction with the MOU signing ceremony, a special seminar with several research areas covering chemistry; structural biology and bio-nanotechnology; genomic crop plants and parasites; rice genetics; fisheries management; and bioremediation and biofuels was held to provide Thai researchers with an up-to-date on current research activities at the University of Liverpool. The researchers also discussed the establishment of long-term research collaboration between the two organizations, the possibility of which includes rice genetics and bioresources utilization.
