Prof. Emeritus Morakot Tanticharoen received the 2009 APBioChEC Award.

Prof._MorakotProf. Emeritus Morakot Tanticharoen, Vice President of NSTDA and Senior Advisor to BIOTEC, has been selected by the organizing committee of the Asia Pacific Biochemical Engineering Conference 2009 (APBioChEC'09) to receive the APBioChEC Award. The award presentation ceremony was held in conjunction with the closing ceremony of APBioChEC'09 on 28 November 2009 in Japan.

The APBioChEC committee presented the award in honor of Prof. Morakot’s efforts in extraordinary research achievements and contributions to both the education and the academic exchange in the field of Biochemical Engineering together with her great contributions to the past APBioChEC.

Prof. Morakot is one of Thailand's leading experts in the field of microbiology and biotechnology. She has shown great ability and specialty in research and development of an anaerobic wastewater treatment for biogas production and algal technology research, and she is also a pioneer in biosensor research in Thailand. Prof. Morakot is also well recognized for her involvement at the regional and international level, being an active member and working on the executive of several societies and organizations, as well as serving on the editorial board of a number of noted international journals. In July 2008, she received the 2008 ASEAN Science and Technology Meritorious Service Award.

Prof. Morakot served as Deputy Director of BIOTEC during 1994-2000 and as Executive Director of BIOTEC during 2000-April 2008. Currently, she is Vice President of NSTDA and Senior Advisor to BIOTEC.
