NSTDA Annual Conference 2011 (NAC2011)

National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) held its annual conference at Thailand Science Park from 24 – 26 March 2011. The opening ceremony of NAC2011 was graciously presided over by H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on 24 March.  NAC activities include an exhibition to highlight NSTDA research and activities as well as to unveil new products and technologies to potential investors; scientific seminars and lab visit.

Held under the theme "Science and Technology for Emergency Preparedness", the seminars offered various interesting academic topics such as Facing climate change impact with S&T: from urban flood to forest fire; Mosquito and global warming era; Living creatures and their warning instinct; S&T in response to bioterrorism and IT for the underwater world study.





Also, NSTDA's R&D outputs that help the nation to cope with natural disasters from prediction, warning, monitoring and handling to restoration were showcased in the exhibition hall.  Two of BIOTEC’s research work were exhibited as solutions to emergency preparedness: the development of Beauveria bassiana BCC 2660  as biocontrol agent for mealy bug, green peach aphid, and brownplanthopper; and the Integration of technology to recover high salinity land.


Besides emergency preparedness topics, there were over 60 scientific findings presented for public viewing.  Exhibitions from BIOTEC include rice research, malaria research, enzyme technology, insect-pathogenic fungi and risk assessment in food.














In the investor zone, NSTDA new products and technologies were presented, ranging from medical devices to agriculture and post harvest technologies.


NAC 2011 attracted over 2,700 researchers, government officers, academics and general public.
