BIOTEC researcher won Gold Prize in IDEA SEED from True Innovation Award 2011

Dr. Srung Smanmoo from Bioresources Technology Unit won the Gold Prize of Idea Seed category in True Innovation Award 2011. The Award recognized 19 outstanding inventions, out of 1,200 applications in two categories consisting of Idea Seed Award and Inno Tree Award. The Idea Seed Award is for innovative business plan or concept of technology with potential for business opportunity and the Inno Tree Award is to award innovative and actual work with potential business investment.

The gold prize for the category “Idea Seed”was presented to Dr. Srung for the best initiative idea on, “Breath Analyzer for Diabetes”. The technique aims to employ an electrochemical sensor for detection of methyl nitrate which is elevated in type-I diabetes mellitus. This can lead to a non-invasive method for blood glucose monitoring.




True Innovation Awards 2011 organized by True Corporation Public Company Limited (PCL), Graduate program on Technopreneurship and Innovation Management of Chulalongkorn University, and the Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC), with the official sponsor from CANON and media sponsor from True Visions. The main objective of this competition is to create a platform of opportunity for Thai innovators, to establish competiveness and potential of Thai innovations in the international market.
