On 11–15 August 2014, BIOTEC delegation, led by Dr. Lily Eurwilaichitr, Deputy Executive Director, visited Indonesia to explore new research collaboration with Research and Community Service Institute, Diponegoro University (Undip) and the Agency for The Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) on biodiversity and bioresource utilization.
At Undip, both institutes had opportunities to share their research activities carried out in each institute and explored their interests on marine biodiversity research. The collaboration will be in the form of joint research and exchange of scientists/students. This discussion was a result from the collaboration framework under MOU between BIOTEC and Undip signed in June 2014. On this occasion, Dr. Lily gave a plenary lecture at the International Conference on Tropical and Coastal Region Eco-Development (ICTCRED) 2014 organized by Undip in Semarang, Indonesia during 11–13 August 2015.
On 15 August 2014, BPPT also organized a follow-up meeting on recent research collaboration related tothe utilization of microbes for biocontrol and industrial enzyme production. In the aspect of biocontrol, both organizations will exchange the knowledge on microbial screening whereas in the industrial enzyme aspect, exchange researchers will begin next year on the topics of up-scale enzyme production and construction of recombinant system.
