BIOTEC is seeking 4 positions for post-doctoral researchers in area of Molecular biology, Genetics, Cell biology and Computational Chemistry, Molecular Modeling, Crystal Structure.
Position 1: Identification of new compounds that have potential use in antimalarial combination therapy
Job description:The candidate will join the current research team to study the effect of antimalarial compounds from the Malaria Box on transgenic P. falciparum parasites that will be controlled for expression of candidate genes using glmS ribozyme system. The identified compounds will be tested for their potential use in combination with antifolate drugs on both lab-strain and field isolates. They will also be investigated further for their mechanisms in inhibiting malaria parasites in details and developed further as antimalarial drugs.
Eligibility/Specific Qualifications: Candidate must have a Ph.D. in Molecular biology, Genetics, Cell biology or related fields. Previous experience working in parasitology, especially malaria, is a plus, but not a must.
Position 2: Computer-Aided Drug Design for new effective PfDHFR inhibitors
Job description: The candidate will design and evaluate new effective DHFR inhibitors by fragment-based drug design and 3D-QSAR approaches.
Eligibility/Specific Qualifications: Candidate must have skills in Computational Chemistry, Molecular Modeling and Crystal Structure.
Position 3: Mechanisms of resistance to the Brown planthopper (BHP) in rice
Job description: The project will rely on transformation of candidate genes from the narrowed genomic in the transgenic rice, statistical analysis of gene expression data, interaction and functional assays in vivo. Results from this project are expected to provide important insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying Brown planthopper (BPH) resistance mechanism of rice.
Eligibility/Specific Qualifications: The candidate should have demonstrated expertise in functional genomics and a strong background in molecular biology. Additional experience in bioinformatics and rice breeding are desirable.
Position 4: Development of oil palm micropropagation by liquid culture to increase the efficiency for oil palm propagation
Job description: The candidate will develop oil palm micropropagation by liquid culturetechnique of Oil palm. Also, he/she will analyze factors which cause effects to efficient growth of liquid culture medium and study fluctuation in genetics due to growing in liquid culture.
Eligibility/Specific Qualifications: Candidate must have a Ph.D. in Plant genetics, Molecular biology, Cell biology or related fields. Previous experience working in plant tissue culture will be considered specially.
