BIOTEC organized a study visit for officers from Thasano Rice Research and Seed Multiplication Centerand farmers from Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR on 7-9 July 2015. The study visit focused on agricultural technology in Thailand.
At BIOTEC, the group learned about the Beauveria production technology and NPV product, both used as biocontrol agents. B. bassiana is effective against aphids, mealybug and brown planthopper; whereas NPV can control beet armyworm and common cutworm. Samples of both products were given to Thasano Rice Research and Seed Multiplication Center for field testing in Savannakhet.
In 2015, BIOTEC provided technical assistance to Thasano Rice Research and Seed Multiplication Center in setting up Mushroom Research Laboratory and organized training of officers at the Center and farmers on the mushroom production technology. To build up capacity in the field, the group visited a Bolete-mushroom-production community enterprise in Ayuthaya Province and Aranyik Mushroom Center in Nakhon Pathom Province.
