Conclusion of ABIC 2009
ABIC 2009 under the theme “Agricultural Biotechnology for Better Living and A Clean Environment” was held during 22-25 September 2009 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand. The event was hosted by BIOTEC, NSTDA, with the support from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).
The Conference was a success with two keynote lectures by Prof. Jeremy Roberts of the University of Nottingham and Dr. William James Peacock of CSIRO and sixteen plenary lectures, covering the topics of plant, animal and aquaculture biotechnology. In addition, there were 10 concurrent tracks with over 50 presenters, and approximately 200 posters presented during the poster session. Over 50 experts from 20 countries and 550 participants from over 30 countries attended this 3-day conference.
ABIC 2009 exhibition was participated by companies and organizations from Thailand, the UK, Vietnam, China, India, Canada and Japan. The exhibition was visited by 600 visitors.

Ikebana Workshop: The Art of Flower Arrangement – The workshop used Siam Tulip, a unique Thai flower, that BIOTEC’s laboratory developed the tissue culture technique to produce disease-free bulb for a local company to export. |
