GENOME INSTITUTE
Established in 2007, the BIOTEC Genome Institute (GI), is set out to focus on resolving biological questions through post-genomics and functional genomic technologies. The major genomic platform technologies, namely, pyrosequencing, high-throughput proteomics, bioinformatics and high performance computing (HPC), are the key technologies harbored in Sequencing, Proteomics, and Biostatistics & Informatics laboratories respectively. GI also offers these services, e.g., DNA sequencing, proteomics services, HPC services through the Genome Institute Service (GIS) unit. Currently, GI houses the following genomic databases: Rice, Shrimp, Cassava, Spirulina and ThaiSNP. With several plans to sequence more organisms, GI also plans to construct and integrate the new databases to the current ones in the future.
