Training :

A training program to cover 4 weeks of instruction has been devised, with all the basic cell culture techniques being taught in the first month and more specialized techniques taught in the second month. A brief summary :
  1. To know about the animal cell culture lab.

  2. To learn how to use the equipment.

  3. Aseptic technique.

  4. To learn about cells: kinds, morphology, media etc.

  5. Preparing and testing medium: different culture media used.

  6. Subculture and maintain cells.

  7. Counting cells.

  8. Viability: trypan blue.

  9. Cryopreservation, thawing cells, viability.

  10. Growth curve.

  11. Test the seeding density and concentration of MTT, DMSO.

  12. Microphotography.

  13. MTT assay with toxin.

  14. Karyotype.

  15. Cloning.

  16. Primary culture: human keratinocyte and fibroblast.

Workshop :

A one week Animal Cell Culture course is organized every other year. Five 3-hour lectures are presented in the morning covering a wide variety of cell culture topics with the aim of giving basic culture protocols, highlighting potential problems and offering possible solutions. In the afternoon guest speakers are invited to give detailed information about specific aspects of cell culture in research.
