About us
The Bioassay Laboratory was established as a bioactive compound screening laboratory, which was a part of the Bioresources Research Program at the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in 1996.Our purpose is to assess the potential use of Thailand's biological resources in medicine, as well as to provide support for the research community in Thailand. Over the past few years, we have developed a number of in vitro assays to identify compounds with biological activities, including anti-cancer, anti-HSV-1, anti-Candida albicans, anti-Mycobacterium tuberculosis, anti-malarial parasite, anti-bacteria, anti-inflammation, anti-plant pathogenic fungi and nuraminidase inhibition assay. We strive for excellence by continually developing new assays as well as improving the accuracy and the sensitivity of the existing assays. In addition to the bioactive compound screening services, we also perform basic research in different disciplines, including the eicosanoid pathway, nasopharyngeal carcinoma-associated antigens, and in vitro bioassays screening for agricultural and animal pest controls.
