BIOTEC in partnership with the British Council Thailand and the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court (IP&IT Court), joined True Visions to officially launch the 2010 Young Thai IP Law Ambassador Award Competition on 23 November 2010 at the IP&IT Court with an aim to raise awareness of the legal and cultural issues around Intellectual Property (IP) amongst the younger generation, as well as to create an informal network for those university students with a strong interest in IP issues.

The competition will be divided into two parts, comprising an English essay on “Intellectual Property for ASEAN Community” with a maximum 1,000 words and eight candidate teams will be selected to enter English moot competition on “Intellectual Property Dispute in Government Funded Research” in a real court room. Deadline for an essay competition is 3 January 2011.

The winning team will receive a trophy from the Supreme Court, including with a two-week, all-expenses-paid trip to the UK to visit and participate in various activities at leading intellectual property establishments, judicial and academic bodies, top private law firms, and creative establishments where ideas are developed. While in the UK, the ambassadors will also join an attachment programme at a reputable law firm.
