BIOTEC – ETH Workshop on Functional Genomics and Biotechnology Studies in Rice and Cassava

To establish research collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH), BIOTEC/NSTDA invited Prof. Wilhelm Griussem, Dr. Navreet Bhullar and Dr. Herve Vanderschuren of ETH Zurich Department of Biology to Thailand to organize BIOTEC – ETH Workshop on Functional Genomics and Biotechnology Studies in Rice and Cassava on 6-8 July 2011. The Workshop aimed to promote research collaboration between Thai and leading ETH scientists, encourage knowledge exchange and explore areas of common interest in functional genomics and systems biology in rice and cassava. Also joining the Workshop were researchers from BIOTEC (starch biosynthesis, cassava genome and rice molecular breeding), Kasetsart University (rice functional genomics), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (systems biology of cassava starch synthesis) and Chulalongkorn University (salt tolerance mechanism in rice).
