The event features the exhibitions of dairy farm industries, government agencies and private sector. This year, BIOTEC highlights on the newly-developed rapid method for sexing bovine embryos and the work on steroid-based protocol for ovulation synchronization and forage cane for animal feed which are already collaborating with dairy industry and farmers.  Joining BIOTEC in this exhibition are Pfizer Animal Health (our collaborator in technology transfer of steroid-based protocol to dairy farmers); Phimai Dairy Co-operative and Namfon Farm (active users of the steroid-based protocol) and farmers from Agricultural Research and Training Center in Khon Kaen (our collaborator on forage cane project).

The steroid-based synchronization of ovulation protocol was developed in BIOTEC Animal Physiology Laboratory to solve problems on reproductive efficiency of dairy cows.  The protocol has produced a good synchronization of follicular waves and sufficient synchronization of ovulation time, resulting in a useful protocol for timed artificial insemination (timed-AI). Field trials showed that the protocol can improve the conception rates in repeat-breeding dairy cows and also overall reproductive efficiencies in dairy cow herds. This protocol has been transferred to, and implemented in various dairy co-operatives and industries including Phimai Dairy Co-operative Ltd. and Namfon Farm. In 2011, BIOTEC and Pfizer (Thailand) implemented a training program on steroid-based synchronization of ovulation protocol. A total of eight workshops were organized in eight different provinces to give hands-on training to farmers and local livestock development government officials.
