National Science and Technology Fair 2013 is on show from 6-21 August 2013 at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC). Organized by Ministry of Science and Technology, the event is held under the theme “Catch the World of Science, Spark Ideas towards ASEAN”.
BIOTEC took part in NSTDA’s exhibition by displaying several selected BIOTEC research and technologies; namely rice research and development using marker-assisted selection technique, anti-malarial drug development, biorefinery, food research, and microbial diversity and utilization. A winning science project from a high-school student was also on displayed.
Over 150 government and private bodies participates in this fair to show their scientific products and activities under various topics such as future energy, global climate changes, food crisis, medical and pharmaceutical technologies, local wisdom to innovative water management. Apart from scientific exhibition, the event also consists of activities such as science contests, edutainment, seminars and trade exhibition for technological products. The highlighted zone is an exhibition to honor King Rama IV, The Father of Thai Science and Technology, His Majesty the King, Rama IX, and the royal family.
National Science and Technology Fair is annually held in August with an aim to motivate interest in science and technology for young people and general visitors and also encourage knowledge and understanding of scientific research and development as well as build up national competitive capacity.
