BIOTEC has entered into a memorandum of understanding withKorea National Research Resource Center (KNRRC) to promote joint activities and information exchange between Thailand Bioresource Research Center (TBRC) and KNRRC. The MOU signing ceremony was held on 18 June 2014 at the National Assembly Member’s Office Buildingin Seoul, Korea with the presence of Dr. Kanyawim Kirtikara, BIOTEC Executive Director and Dr. Yeonhee Lee, KNRRC Director General.
TBRC is an initiative of BIOTEC. It is expected to serve as a store-front for vast arrays of biological material such as, microorganisms, cell lines, hybridoma cells, enzymes, etc. Through the linkage developed with the Thailand Network of Culture Collections and major culture collections in Asia, TBRC is able to provide comprehensive and diverse biological material to serve the needs of industrial clients. As the basic research on microorganisms is being carried out under one roof, bioinformation, such as gene sequences, enzyme screening results and a chemical compound database on each culture is also made available through sophisticated information systems software to facilitate the maximum utilization of microbial strains. Collaboration with KNRRC will definitely enhance the work of Asian resource centers.
