The 2015 National Science and Technology Fair was held from 14-25 November 2015 at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, organized by Ministry of Science and Technology. Various exhibitions and activities were gathered at this fair from public and private, local and international sectors. The Fair aims to provide opportunities and learning platforms for young people, students and members of the public to participate and express their creative ideas and whilst building positive attitudes towards science and technology, as well as to encourage and inspire Thai people to appreciate and understand science and technology.
BIOTEC joined in NSTDA’s exhibition by showing Thai-Fungi, an application which compiled a checklist of invertebrate-pathogenic fungi found in Thailand. The app is designed for users to learn about the diversity of fungi and to be used as a reference guide giving detailed information and photos of each fungal species. Users can also upload photos of insect-pathogenic fungi that they have encountered directly for the researchers to identify.
The Thai-Fungi app has been developed by Microbe Interaction Laboratory and Information Systems Laboratory from Bioresources Technology Research Unit. It is available on the App Store and Google Play Store.
