CENTER OF EXCELLENCE FOR MOLECULAR BIOLOGY AND GENOMICS OF SHRIMP
The Center of Excellence for Molecular Biology and Genomics of Shrimp was first established as Shrimp Molecular Biology and Genomics Laboratory by Chulalongkorn University in 2003. In 2004, BIOTEC entered in a Memorandum of Understanding with Chulalongkorn University to co-support the activities of Shrimp Molecular Biology and Genomics Laboratory. The Lab was promoted to the status of Center of Excellence by Chulalongkorn University in 2008.
Research Projects
- Genomic research for increase culture efficiency of shrimp: the study of genes and proteins associated with disease resistance
- Functional genomic approach to identify candidate genes and proteins responding to pathogens in black tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon
- Characterization and application of antimicrobial peptides from the back tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon
Serine proteinase inhibitors - Molecular cloning and characterization of genes controlling osmoregulation in black tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon
