Our laboratory specializes in microbial cultivation technology and bioprocess development for production of bio-products from microbes, namely fungi, yeast and bacteria. Thus, cultivation and media optimization are important techniques used to promote microbial growth and facilitate screening and production of bioactive compounds/bio-products of interest including mushroom cultivation. For production, our researches focus on applying both experimental design and fermentation technology to improve production yield and develop more efficient and economical processes for scale up. Our capabilities are from upstream fermentation processes in laboratory and pre-pilot scales up to downstream processing namely cross-flow filtration, spray drying and lyophilization. Most works in the level of pre-pilot scale production are for biological field trial and feasibility evaluation of potential process before commercial transfer. With these technologies, we collaborate and support our in-house research via serviced cultivation and nurture our private collaborators on various aspects. Such are designing and setting up laboratory, R&D staff training, and consulting services for the R&D direction of research in focus. We are also capable of identifying research problem and providing R&D solution to support private sectors on biotechnology business ideas.
