Marine Biotechnology Research Unit (MBRU), a specialized laboratory
of National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC),
has been established in 1987 at Chulalongkorn
University. MBRU is a consortium between a group of researchers
of BIOTEC and groups of academicians from Chulalongkorn University and
Srinakharinwirot University. MBRU carries out researches and development
on marine biotechnology especially in the fields of aquaculture and
utilization of marine organisms that offer development of national economy.
MBRU research facilities consist of indoor experimental ponds and aquariums,
aquaculture feed producing machine, food analysis laboratory, molecular
biology laboratory, microbiology laboratory, algal laboratory and analytical
chemistry laboratory.
