The Medical Molecular Biology Research Unit focuses its research and development to advance knowledge in neglected diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis which are still prevalent in Thailand. Malaria research aims to understand the mechanisms of drug resistance and synthesize new drugs while tuberculosis research focuses on identifying new drug targets and prove their validity.

The Medical Molecular Biology Research Unit consists of the following two laboratories:

• Protein-Ligand Engineering and Molecular Biology Laboratory
• Tuberculosis Research Laboratory
