Sustainable Shrimp Production Through Efficient and
Circular Practices
11 March 2026, 15:00 – 16:35 hrs.
MR 219, BITEC, Bangkok
Description:
Sustainable shrimp production uses circular economy principles by minimizing waste and maximizing resource efficiency through technologies like Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS), converting waste into fertilizer to grow ingredients for alternative, sustainable aquafeeds supported by smart tech (AI/IoT) for precise management and automated systems for feeding and health checks. Automated feeding systems deliver the exact amount of feed required, minimizing waste and improving feed conversion ratios, while automated health monitoring systems ensure early detection and prevention of disease outbreaks. Selective breeding and genomic technologies enhance the resilience and efficiency of shrimp strains. Key focus includes developing shrimp with disease resistance which reduces the need for antibiotics and minimizes the environmental footprint. These integrated approaches ensure a more environmentally sound and economically viable shrimp farming industry with long-term viability.
