Dr. Nataporn Chanvarasuth has joined BIOTEC since 1993 as a project analyst. With the scholarship of the Royal Thai Government, Dr. Nataporn obtained her Ph.D. in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, USA in 2003. After that, she returned to BIOTEC and worked as a policy researcher under the Policy Study and Biosafety Division.

 

As the policy researcher, Dr. Nataporn led the team to do policy research studies delivering the national goals, roadmaps, and implementation plans for Thailand biotechnology development. One example is Thailand Biotechnology Framework (2004-2011) that initiated several incentives specific for biotechnology businesses and provided the national goals and directions for biotechnology development cited by many related organizations. Another example is the Strategic Study to Promote the Development of Thai Bio-based Industry. This study had been used in the public-private collaboration aiming to create new S-Curve industry for bioeconomy. In 2017, Dr. Nataporn was appointed to be a director of Platform Technology Management and Human Resource Development Division. Her role is to establish platform technologies for the future and to create biotechnology capabilities under the NSTDA Strategic Planning Alliance III (2017-2021) that meet the national needs.
