Dr. Kallaya Srithanyalaksa-Daengtib<\/strong> holds two doctoral degrees: a Ph.D. in Comparative Physiology from Uppsala University, Sweden, and a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Mahidol University, Thailand, where her research was awarded the Takuchi Outstanding Thesis Award from the Biotechnology Association of Thailand. She joined the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), as a researcher in 2002 and was appointed Head of the Aquatic Animal Health Research Team in 2013. She also leads research on shrimp immunology and diseases under the Center of Excellence for Shrimp Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (Centex Shrimp)<\/strong>, a collaboration between Mahidol University and BIOTEC, and serves as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University. With extensive experience in aquatic animal research, Dr. Kallaya specializes in aquatic immunology, shrimp disease pathogenesis, and the development of biotechnological solutions for disease control in shrimp aquaculture<\/strong>, with her work significantly advancing scientific knowledge and strengthening the shrimp farming industry at both national and international levels.<\/p>

Dr. Kallaya has authored more than 100 international peer-reviewed publications<\/strong> and has an h-index of 36<\/strong> (Scopus, as of May 18, 2025). She has also been recognized by Stanford University, USA<\/strong>, as being among the Top 2% of the world\u2019s scientists in Fisheries<\/strong>, based on citation impact during 2019\u20132021.Her dedication to both fundamental research and practical applications has earned her numerous prestigious awards, including:<\/p>

  • L\u2019Or\u00e9al-UNESCO For Women in Science Award (2007)<\/strong><\/li>
  • Newton Prize (Chairman\u2019s Award) (2017)<\/strong><\/li>
  • Outstanding Researcher Award (2022)<\/strong> from the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) and NSTDA<\/li>
  • Outstanding One Health Researcher in Aquaculture Award (2023)<\/strong> from the FUCOBI Foundation, Ecuador<\/li>
  • Outstanding Scientist Award (2024)<\/strong> from the Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Technology under the Patronage of His Majesty the King<\/li>
  • Golden Shrimp Award (2025)<\/strong> from the Thai Shrimp Farmers Association and Surat Thani Shrimp Farmers Club<\/li><\/ul>

    In addition, Dr. Kallaya has been appointed to several national and international committees, including the Aquatic Animal Disease Control and Surveillance Committee<\/strong> under the Department of Fisheries, Thailand, and as a Committee Member of the Secretariat of the Asian Society of Developmental and Comparative Immunology (ASDCI)<\/strong>.<\/p>

    In 2025, she was appointed Director of the Integrated Aquatic Biotechnology Research Group at BIOTEC<\/strong>, reflecting her leadership and outstanding contributions to advancing aquatic biotechnology research.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
