[Nakhon Pathom, 30 November 2023] \u2013 The Sireeruckhachati Nature Learning Park Project<\/strong>, an initiative under Mahidol University (MU)<\/strong>, and the National Biobank of Thailand (NBT)<\/strong>, a research unit under the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC-NSTDA)<\/strong>, is pleased to announce a \u00a0Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Development, Management, and Dissemination of Sustainable Plants and Biological Resources Database. \u00a0This agreement paves the way for the development of a data management system and storage of biological resources found in the Sirirukkhachat Natural Science Park. This includes establishing an online database and a comprehensive platform for data analysis to disseminate and link biological resource information among academic institutions, R&D, and conservation agencies. The aim is to facilitate research, development, and conservation efforts through enhanced access and sharing of information.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The MOU signing ceremony took place on 30 November 2023 at the Sireeruckhachat Nature Learning Park, Mahidol University, Nakhon Pathom. \u201cThe Sireeruckhachati Nature Learning Park is not only a place for over 900 species of medicinal plants, making it the largest source in Thailand, but also a trailblazer as the first botanical garden in the country to receive an international standard certificate from the United Kingdom’s Botanic Gardens Conservation International. It serves as a model tourist attraction for educating visitors about medicinal plants, botany, the environment, and biodiversity. Aligned with the SDGs’ sustainable development guidelines and Thailand’s BCG economic model, it stands as an exemplary destination for promoting education and awareness regarding these crucial aspects.,\u201d remarked Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya,<\/strong> M.D., President of MU.<\/p>

The synergy between the two institutes will lead to the management of plant biological resource and the dissemination of the database information, which including collecting biological samples found in the Sireeruckhachati Nature Learning Park Project<\/strong> with the purpose for research, development and innovation in the sustainable conservation of plant genetics and biological resources.<\/p>

About the National Biobank of Thailand<\/u><\/p>

About the Sireeruckhachati Nature Learning Park Project<\/u><\/p>

The Sireeruckhachati Nature Learning Park Project, spanning an impressive 140 Rais in size (equivalent to 36 soccer fields), is situated at Mahidol University, Phuttamonthon 4 Road, Salaya, Nakhon Pathom.
