On July 23, 2025, at Thailand Science Park, the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), warmly welcomed a delegation from the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI) from Lao PDR. The visit aimed to showcase BIOTEC’s work, achievements, and research laboratories.
The program began with an overview of BIOTEC and collaborative efforts with NAFRI by Dr. Warinthorn Songkasiri, Deputy Executive Director of BIOTEC. Mr. Chaloun Bounithiphonh, Deputy Director of Administration, Planning & Cooperation of NAFRI, then presented an overview of NAFRI. BIOTEC researchers also highlighted key projects, including sustainable cassava production (featuring diagnostic and clean seed technologies), mycelium-based materials & waste utilization, and ASF vaccine development.
The NAFRI delegation toured four facilities: the Plant Phenomics Facility, Plant Microbe Interaction Lab, Biocontrol Technology Lab, and Diagnosis Technology Platform for Plant Pathogens. This visit underscored the strong, lasting partnership between BIOTEC, NSTDA, and NAFRI, reinforcing their shared dedication to fostering innovation and sustainable agricultural development across the region.
