BUSINESS HOURS:

Government and business offices are open from 08:30 to 16:30 hours, Monday to Friday.

SEASONS:

  • Hot: March to May, Average temperature is about 34 ºC
  • Rainy: June to October, Average temperature is about 29 ºC
  • Cool: November to February, The temperature ranges from 20ºC to 32 ºC
FOREIGN CURRENCY DECLARATION:

As from 24 February 2008, under the relevant Thai law, any foreigner who brings or takes an aggregate amount of foreign currency exceeding USD 20,000 or its equivalent into or out of the Kingdom of Thailand shall declare such amount of foreign currency to a Customs Officer. Failure to declare upon bringing foreign currency that exceeds the amount restricted by law or its equivalent out of or into the Kingdom of Thailand or making any false declaration to a Customs.

BANKS:

Major Thai commercial banks business hours are 08:30 – 15:30 hours, Monday to Friday. Several international banks also have offices in Thailand.

CURRENCY:

The Baht is the standard currency unit.

  • Bank Notes: 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1,000 Baht
  • Coins: 1, 5, and 10 Baht
CHANGING MONEY:

Banks and, in some cases, private moneychangers provide the best foreign-exchange rates. When purchasing baht, the most accepted currency is US dollars, followed by British pounds and Euros. For each travelers’ cheque cashed, most banks charge a commission and duty.

CREDIT CARDS:

Major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, and UnionPay) are accepted at most hotels, restaurants, shops, malls, and travel agencies. Please note that the most food street stalls only accept CASH.

HEALTH AND MEDICAL FACILITIES:

Bangkok has numerous clinics and hospitals catering to a variety of needs. Major public and private hospitals are equipped with the latest medical technology and internationally qualified specialists. Almost all pharmaceuticals are widely available. Please always keep your passport and proof of travel insurance with you.

ELECTRICITY:

In Thailand, the power plugs and sockets are of type A, B, C, F and O. The standard voltage is 220 V, and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.

VISA APPLICATION:

Visitors from 58 countries and Hong Kong SAR are automatically granted permission to stay for 30 days in the country. Additional of 19 countries can apply for a “Visa on Arrival” at the Immigration Hall in all Thai international airports and border checkpoints. For citizens of countries not covered by the above, visas can be obtained from the nearest Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate.
