Aquatic Molecular Genetics and
Biotechnology Research Team
Aquatic Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology Research Team (AQGT) is experienced in performing research, development and innovation to promote the use of science and technology related to aquaculture biotechnology and to resolve industrial problems on the culture and production of economically important aquatic species. AQGT sets up strategies as follows;
– Research and Development in commercially important aquatic species for increasing industrial competitiveness of the country.
– Creating aquaculture innovations from basic research and development.
– Development of research network with governmental and private organizations at local, regional and international levels.
– Technology transfer of developed technologies to appropriate users for generating high impact research in aquaculture biotechnology.
– Molecular markers for selection of fast-growing Pacific white shrimp, banana shrimp and Asian seabass
– Molecular markers for selection of stress-tolerant stocks of Pacific white shrimp and banana shrimp
– Technology for stimulation of shrimp reproduction and maturation
– Increasing of the production efficiency of giant freshwater prawn using all male culture
– Promotion of health status of aquatic species using the basic knowledge on various pathways of immunity
– Vaccines for scale drop disease, nervous system disease and Streptococcosis in Asian seabass
– Genetic improvement of Siamese fighting fish
– Species identification of economically important aquatic species
