The National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), continues to strengthen regional collaboration in biotechnology research and development. Dr. Sithichoke Tangphatsornruang, Deputy Executive Director for Agricultural Biotechnology Research and Development, together with Dr. Wirulda Pootakham, Deputy Executive Director for Research and Development Support, attended the Sarawak SHInE International Conference 2026 (SHInE 2026) and the exchange ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sarawak Infectious Disease Centre (SIDC) in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, on 10 September 2026.
The collaboration between BIOTEC and SIDC marks another important step toward strengthening research and development in infectious diseases and biotechnology. The partnership focuses on advancing knowledge and innovation to address infectious diseases, including the development of vaccines and biologics, with the aim of translating research into medical applications.
In addition, both organizations are committed to strengthening human resource capacity through researcher exchanges, technical training, and technology transfer, fostering a strong regional network for research and biotechnology collaboration.
